My Curaçao Escape: Staying at BijBlauw Boutique Hotel

There are some places you visit that are beautiful, and then there are places that become part of the vacation itself. BijBlauw Boutique Hotel in Curaçao was definitely one of those places for me.
From the moment I arrived, I was drawn to the beautiful architecture, colorful buildings, oceanfront setting, and relaxed Caribbean atmosphere. Located in the historic Pietermaai neighborhood of Willemstad, BijBlauw feels completely different from a typical resort. It has personality, history, and a charm that makes you feel like you are experiencing a little piece of Curaçao rather than simply staying in a hotel.
A Beautiful Building With History
One of the things that made BijBlauw even more special to me was the history behind the property.
BijBlauw opened in December 2013, following the renovation of two beautiful monumental buildings in Pietermaai. The historic buildings were carefully restored while preserving many of their original architectural details and character.
The buildings date back to the late 1800s, giving the property a wonderful sense of history. Today, the colorful architecture, high ceilings, traditional details, and beautiful setting create a unique combination of old Curaçao charm and boutique-hotel comfort.
The property is also right beside the Caribbean Sea, so you get that beautiful contrast of historic architecture and incredible ocean views.
And standing there looking at the water, you can understand why this location is so special.
My Two-Bedroom Apartment Felt Like Home
For my stay, I stayed at the Two-Bedroom Oceanview Apartment, and I absolutely loved having the extra space.
It didn't feel like a hotel room. It felt like a home away from home.
The apartment is spacious and includes a living room, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, two full bathrooms with showers, and an additional guest bathroom.
One of my favorite details was the master bedroom. The high ceilings and beautiful large windows filled the room with natural light and gave it such an airy, open feeling. It had so much character and felt incredibly inviting.
Having a real living space and kitchen also made the apartment feel more like my own little Curaçao home rather than somewhere I was simply staying for a few nights.
And then there was the patio.
My Patio With an Ocean View
The apartment also had a private patio overlooking the restaurant, with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea.
This quickly became one of my favorite places to sit and relax.
I could look down toward the restaurant, see the ocean beyond it, feel the Caribbean breeze, and just take everything in.
There is something special about having your own outdoor space where you can start the morning with a coffee or wind down in the evening while looking at the water.
The Restaurant Is Beautiful
And then there is the restaurant.
The BijBlauw oceanfront restaurant is beautiful.
The setting alone makes it worth experiencing. Sitting right alongside the Caribbean Sea, the restaurant has an intimate and stylish atmosphere while still feeling completely relaxed and Caribbean.
I loved being able to sit outside, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, watch the water, and take in the views while having a delicious meal.
The food was another highlight for me — fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. There is something about enjoying fresh food with the Caribbean Sea right in front of you that makes the experience even better.
Whether you're there for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks, the setting makes it easy to slow down and enjoy yourself.
And if you can catch the sunset from the restaurant, even better.
The Perfect Place to Slow Down
Curaçao has so much to explore — colorful Willemstad, beautiful beaches, local restaurants, shops, and plenty of places to discover.
But one of my favorite things about staying at BijBlauw was knowing I could come back after exploring and simply relax.
I could sit on my patio, enjoy the ocean view, have a drink at the restaurant, or simply take in the beautiful surroundings.
There was no need to rush.
Why BijBlauw Stood Out to Me
What made my stay so memorable was the combination of everything:
The history.
The beautiful architecture.
The ocean views.
The gorgeous restaurant.
The fresh food.
The spacious apartment.
And that feeling of being at home.
The Two-Bedroom Oceanview Apartment gave me the comfort and space of a home while still giving me everything I wanted from a boutique hotel experience.
I also loved that the property has so much character. You're not staying in a modern building that could be anywhere in the world. You're surrounded by historic architecture that has been carefully preserved and given a new life.
For me, that's what makes BijBlauw special.
It's intimate, beautiful, full of character, and perfectly connected to the Caribbean surroundings.
BijBlauw wasn't just where I stayed in Curaçao; it became part of my Curaçao experience. And honestly, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
